First Thing First

“First of all then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people.”  1 Timothy 2:1

Here is Paul addressing Timothy a young pastor to set his number one priority as praying for the people. We may not be a pastor but we are leading someone and we must learn to pray for those awesome people we lead. A husband ought to lead his wife and kids into refreshment and health. A wife ought to build her house up not tear it down. It’s built up by prayer.

Pray for your kids, your friends, your neighbors, husband, wife, and the people you work with. Pray for your enemies and for those who have authority in the public spectrum. The reason prayer is to be the number one priority is revealed a couple verses down in verse 4. “Because God desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.”  Prayer is what breaks down strongholds in people’s lives, and we get to see people saved!

Lord today I ask you would give me the same desire you have to see people get saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Today give me a heart of prayer for the people I’ve been entrusted to lead. Thank you for the gift of prayer. Amen
