Grit

“so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts” 1 Thes. 2:4

“What’s the definition of integrity” the interviewer asks?  I myself and countless others have answered, “doing what’s right when no one is watching.”  It’s a somewhat true statement but isn’t it even harder to do what’s right when everyone is watching? Isn’t it harder to not fear people’s reaction to standing up for something you know is right?

It can be easier to walk on egg shells to make everyone happy even though it derails the core values and mission.  We are afraid of repercussions of people.  We are afraid someone will “throw us under the bus”.  We fear not being loved and talked up.

Father help me to fear you more than men. I need Your grit today. Keep me from being a wishy washy man.  Test my heart and show me anything that’s out of whack right now. Amen
