“For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” James 2:13
It’s always better to error on the side of mercy and grace. In James the context is regarding showing favoritism to people based on what you think they can give to you. We tend to creep towards people who we think will help us climb whatever ladder it is we are trying to climb at the time. We tend to avoid people who we feel can’t give us anything in return. What a bunch of creepers.
We like looking up the ladder and reaching our hand up for someone who will hopefully grab it and lift us up. We don’t think about looking down the ladder and offering a hand to someone who is needing help. The true joy and life is found in being the helping hand. Jesus said, “it is more blessed to give then to receive”.
Today I want to be aware of my direction in this tendency of human nature. I want to be aware of my inward creepiness that seeks to simply impress people who I view as more successful.
Lord thanks for this reminder. Help me to see others through Your eyes and be a blessing to someone today. Amen
