For by him all things were created, in heaven and in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities- all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things and in him all things hold together. Col. 1:16-17
There are 2 atoms of hydrogen and 1 atom of o2 per every single water molecule. In a single drop of water if you were to take every atom and blow it up to the size of a grain of sand, you’d have enough sand to build a wall 1 foot thick and half a mile high stretching from Anchorage to San Antonio, Texas.
Scientists don’t know what holds the atoms together, they call it “atomic glue”. It’s a mystery. Paul says here in Colossians that Jesus is the atomic glue who holds it all together. There will come a day when Jesus will let go of his hold on the atom (2 peter 3:10-11) and the result will be chaos and destruction. But in this day of grace, he continues to hold the galaxies, the atoms, and our lives together.
Why do you exist today? You were made by him and for him, and if you don’t give your life to him, like chaotic atoms your life will fall apart. Life won’t make sense without him. It’s not designed to.
